Club CATS Leader - Eli Pickard

By Webmaster 12/31/2024, 10:15am CST

Congratulations to our new Club CATS Leader - Eli Pickard!

Eli stepped in to fill a void at goalie. His family drives over an hour to the rink for him to be a part of our Peewee C2 team.

Families say:
"Eli joined the PW C2 team when another team's goalie chose to leave the association. He lives in Pearl City, IL, and his family has stepped up, driving more than an hour for practices and home games. His Dad, Mom, and Grandpa all help out and have been wonderful. The Pickards have been great additions to Verona hockey."

Club CATS Leaders - Bantam A Team!

By Webmaster 12/20/2024, 8:30am CST

Congratulations to our new Club CATS Leaders from the Bantam A team!

A scheduling issue led to a mismatch in a tournament championship. Our Bantam A team used it as an opportunity to improve while being respectful to the competition.

Coaches from the opposing team say:
"I wanted to send a note commending the sportsmanship of your Bantam A players and coaches in the Green Bay tournament. There was a scheduling issue for the championship game, so we stayed to play. Knowing our team was overmatched, Verona used the opportunity to work on your play and not to embarrass our players. During the handshake, almost every Verona player thanked us for sticking around. Please let them know there is much respect for those actions, and they represented Verona very well."

Coach Luke Lestikow - Club CATS Leader!

By Webmaster 12/16/2024, 7:30pm CST

Congratulations to our new Club CATS Leader - Coach Luke Lestikow!

Coach Luke immediately helped a young player after a frightening fall from the bleachers.

Coaches say:
"Coach Luke sprang into action when a U8 player accidentally fell from the bleachers to the ground below after practice. Due to his quick actions and impeccable timing, we were able to treat the player as best as we could at the rink and get him to the ER for further medical attention. Accidents happen and we're glad Coach Luke was there to save the day. Happy to report that, five stitches later, everyone is ok."
