Jason Geiger GoFundMe Fundraiser - Please Donate

Please keep Jason Geiger and his family in your thoughts.

Jason is one of our fellow VWYH coaches/parents. Last weekend he was involved in a terrible hunting accident and is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.

We are asking those of you that are able to donate to Jason’s recovery, please do so right away. He needs our help. A GoFundMe page has been set up at the following link:

Here is what happened in Jason’s words:

I had a scary accident yesterday and I’m still in shock this happened to me. I was hanging a new tree stand in a remote area in Iowa County for this weekend’s gun opener. After I hung and strapped the stand down, I put my weight on it and something broke and I came crashing down about 20ft. After the hard impact, i was unable to move my left arm and right leg. I knew I could not make it out on my own. I panically searched for my phone, which was shattered a few feet away and quickly called 911. Communicating my location was a challenge, and the rescue team had to cross a river and climb a hill to find me. During the next hour, I laid there in the cold and constant pain, which was one of the hardest challenges I’ve faced. Such a huge relief when they found me. The ambulance had to drive through some neighboring fields to pull me out, but the rescue team got me out of the woods safe.

The good news is I’ll be ok. This could have been a lot worse. I have a fractured shoulder and hip, with surgery Monday. Safety is important to me, I always wear a harness when I hunt. This is the first time I’ve ever had a stand break like this while setting it up and will have to implement new safety measures next time. Big thank you to the firefighters who found me, the paramedics, upland hills and St Mary’s hospital, doctors and nurses. These heroes had one mission, to get me out safe and provide the best care possible. I can’t thank them enough. Thank you to friends and family that have also reached out to help. I appreciate your support. I’m looking forward to a quick recovery. And just another reminder, please hunt safe this weekend. I’m sitting this one out.

Again, please donate if you can and keep Jason in your thoughts this holiday season.
