Starting With Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey

Why Hockey?

Learn life skills - teamwork, self confidence and determination are just a few of life skills that hockey teaches and embraces.

How do I get my child started in VWYH?

First you will need to register your child online at:

www.USAHockey.com

Once you have registered on the USA Hockey website, you will need to register your child with the VWYH program at:

VWYHA registration

Kids 4 and 5 years of age who are just starting out can register on the VWYHA Site for the Learn To Play program. VWYHA provides rental equipment for a $60 deposit, that is reimbursed when the equipment is returned. (New skaters can receive free rental.) The registration fee for Learn to Play is only $50.

What is the next step after Learn to Skate?

You may register your child for the U6 cross-ice level.

The U6 level takes the very basic skating skills learned in the LTP program and continues to build on and improve the basic skills.  The U6 level also provides an opportunity for the skaters to experience playing the game of hockey at its basic level.

What is expected of a member of Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey?

To allow your children to learn the game and to enjoy the game of hockey. To conduct yourself properly during practices and games. After all, it's about the kids.

As for volunteer hours, you will be expected to complete mandatory Concession Stand hours.

What equipment does my child need?

Your child will need shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, breezers and a helmet which are included in the $60 rental gear. You will also need to purchase skates and a stick in addition to this previously listed gear.
