Program Level Descriptions and Cost

Learn To Play – This is an introductory program for children ages 4-6 that have little skating experience. These new players are instructed on skating fundamentals and introduced to the game of hockey with fun and engaging practices. Skaters are on the ice one session per week with nothing scheduled for holiday weekends.

  • Skaters ages 4-6 that are new to skating and hockey
  • On-ice sessions focus on skill development and fun small area games
  • Typically skate on Saturday mornings  starting  the first Saturday of November and concluding the last weekend in February
  • Cost:  $35.00 per skater

 

U6 Program – This is a program for players ages 6 and under that have some skating experience. Skaters are on the ice two times each week with one weeknight practice at the Verona Ice Arena and a game each weekend at an area rink. No games are scheduled for holiday weekends.

  • Skaters ages 6 and under with some experience
  • Typically practice on Tuesdays at 5:20pm and play games on Sundays at an area rink against local associations using a 3v3 format with no goaltenders 
  • Season begins first week of October and concludes last weekend in February.
  • Cost:  $400.00 per skater

 

U8 Program (also known as Red, White, and Blue Level Hockey) – This program is for skaters ages 8 and under. There are three levels (Red, White, and Blue) within the program allowing for us to provide an appropriate skill-level experience for all skaters. Skaters are on the ice three times per week with two weeknight practices at Verona Ice Arena and a half-ice game each weekend at a local rink.

  • Skaters ages 7-8 with little experience to several years of experience being placed on an appropriate team.
  • Practices are typically on Monday and Wednesday starting at either 5:20pm or 6:30pm with half ice games with goaltenders being played at local rinks on Sundays.
  • Season begins the first week in October and concludes the last weekend in February.
  • Cost:  $565.00 per skater

 

Squirt & Pee Wee Recreation Program – This is a program for players ages 9 – 12 that have little or no experience playing hockey.  Skaters have two weeknight practices with one half-ice game each weekend at a local rink.  At the discretion of the Board of Directors, full-ice game opportunities may be provided based on the number of skaters at the level.   

  • Skaters ages 9-12 with little to some skating experience
  • Practices and games TBD based on registration numbers for these level of play
  • Season typically begins first week of October and concludes the first week of March
  • Cost:  $565.00 per skater

 

Squirt – This level is generally for skaters ages 9-10 that have successfully completed the U8 Program and have qualified for participation at the Squirt level. Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, or C team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices at Verona Ice Arena and one to two games on weekends.

  • Skaters ages 9-10 (2006 and 2007 birth years)
  • Practices begin the week of October 3rd and due to the projection of three teams at this level, there will be a rotating three day practice schedule of Mon, Wed and Thurs. from 6:30pm - 7:30pm with an occasional Friday practice (once a month)
  • Season runs through the first week in March
  • Cost:  $990.00 per skater

 

Pee Wee – This level is generally for skaters ages 11-12 that have successfully completed the Squirt program and have qualified for participation at the Pee Wee level. Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, or C team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices at Verona Ice Arena and one to two games on weekends.

  • Skaters ages 11-12 (2004 and 2005 birth years)
  • Practices begin the week of Oct. 3rd and due to the projection of 3 teams at this level, there will be a rotating 3 day practice schedule using Tues, Wed, and Thurs. from 7:40 - 8:40pm with an occasional Friday practice.
  • Season runs through the first week in March
  • Cost:  $1,065.00 per skater

 

Bantam – This level is for skaters ages 13-14 that have successfully completed the Pee Wee program and have qualified for the Bantam level. Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, or C team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices at Verona Ice Arena and one to two games on weekends.

  • Skaters ages 13-14 (2002 and 2003 birth years)
  • Season begins the week of October 3rd with practices mainly Monday at 7:40pm and Wednesdays at 8:50pm with an occasional Friday (once a month)
  • Season runs through the first week in March
  • Cost:  $1,115.00 per skater

 

Midget 18U – This level is for skaters registered and attending a registered high school or an approved Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction home study program, 18 years of age and under on the first day of the school year, not on a WIAA High School roster, and who have successfully completed the Bantam Program.  Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, or C team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices at Verona Ice Arena and one to two games on weekends.

  • Skaters ages 14-18 (2001 and older birth years)
  • Season begins the week of October 10th with practices mainly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:50pm
  • Season runs through the first week in March
  • Cost:  $1,165.00 per skater

 

Practice times may fluctuate due to the availability of ice time and scheduling conflicts that occur from time to time.  The Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors reserves the right to schedule ice times as it deems necessary to meet the demands of our growing club.
