Equipment Rental

Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association offers an equipment rental program for young skaters and those new to hockey. For those who are participating with Verona for the first time (first year), we have a "deposit only" option where you simply provide us a $60 deposit which will be refunded/returned at the end of the year when you return or “re-rent” your bag of equipment. The "first year deposit only" is designed as an introductory "perk" for new families trying our organization for the first time. For 2nd year skaters and beyond, the rental cost is $60 per year which is still a great price to ease the cost of hockey, especially at a young age, when kids grow out of equipment so quickly! It's a win-win for all!

Rental Equipment Bag includes the following:

  • shin guards
  • breezer/hockey pants
  • elbow pads
  • shoulder pads
  • helmet
  • neck guard
  • gloves

Equipment not provided:

  • skates
  • stick
  • hockey socks
  • mouth guard
  • athletic supporter (jock/jill)
  • suspenders or shock jock

The rental program is ideal for skaters who are planning to play in our Learn to Play, U6, and Red/White/Blue programs. Once your skaters begins playing full ice [Squirt level or higher, typically 9 years old or older], you must begin to buy your own equipment unless you are new to hockey and starting out at an older age. We only have a limited supply of "intermediate" sized equipment.

At the beginning of each year, typically in early October, we will hold 2 or 3 rental equipment sessions in the mezzanine of the Verona Ice Arena. You will be given the chance to sign-up for a personal appointment and we will help make a personalized set of equipment for each skater and size them accordingly.

The sport of hockey has grown dramatically in recent years and there are now opportunities to skate and development throughout the year. While year-round skating is not required, we have modified our equipment rental program in order to allow skaters/families to keep their equipment throughout the year.   We hold return/exchange sessions throughout the year for skaters/families to “size-up” the pieces of equipment that no longer fit or are no longer in acceptable condition. At the beginning of each winter season [October/November], we will make arrangements with you to pay the next $60 rental fee for the new year, but you will not have to worry about receiving or adjusting to “different gear” other than any new pieces you swap out…plus, it saves all the hassle of returning and then picking up gear every year.

You can contact me at any time with questions and request to be put on my Rental Equipment Email List to be sure you receive all rental communications.

See you at the Rink!
